About Gene Nelson
Piano Technology:

1968 - My interest in piano technology began.

1973 - Graduated from Niles Bryant School of Piano Technology. Also I attended Canada College in Redwood City California and completed two full semesters of piano technology - Van Raymond Thine was my instructor.

1974 - 1975 Apprentice with pipe organ technician.

1975 - Left full time piano technology work for public service career. Mid 1990's Returned to full time piano technology work and joined the Piano Technicians Guild.

2000 - 2004 Apprenticed with Peter Clark at Sacramento State University. Continued to work part time at CSUS and was hired as Temporary Piano Technician 2 for two years.

2000-2006 Did rebuilding work under the careful schooling of Dale Fox and Brett Dearing.

2000 - 2003 Served as Secretary of the Sacramento Valley Chapter of the Piano Technicians Guild.

2004 - Present - Vice President of the Sacramento Valley Chapter of the Piano Technicians Guild.

2003 - Became a Registered Piano Technician.

2004 - Graduated "Allied Piano" School of Polyester Finish Repair.

2004 - Concert prep and Tuning for Sacramento State University, Sacramento Philharmonic, the Camellia Symphony, Crocker Art Museum and the Sacramento Choral Society.

2000 - Present - Complete rebuilding and restoration work at home and with Peter Clark.

2000- Present - New piano service for Gordon's Music and Sound and the Music Exchange.
